Botafogo perde, e cai no Brasileiro

O Botafogo perdeu para o Sport por 1 a 0, na noite desta sexta-feira (5) em jogo válido pela 34ª rodada do Campeonato Brasileiro disputado no estádio do Engenhão, e foi matematicamente rebaixado para a Série B da competição.

Com o revés, a equipe carioca permaneceu na lanterna da competição com 24 pontos. Assim, pela terceira vez na história o Botafogo disputará a segunda divisão do futebol brasileiro.

Já o Sport, após a partida desta sexta, respira um pouco mais aliviado. Com 38 pontos (dois acima da pontuação do Bahia, primeiro time dentro da zona de rebaixamento), o Leão da Ilha do Retiro sai do Z4 e vai à 14ª posição.

O único gol da partida foi marcado em cobrança de pênalti do zagueiro Iago Maidana aos 23 da etapa inicial. A infração foi confirmada pelo árbitro Luiz Flávio de Oliveira com auxílio do VAR (árbitro de vídeo) após chute do volante Marcão de fora da área desviar na mão do meia Romildo.

Este foi um golpe duro para o Alvinegro, que apostava apenas na vitória para tentar uma improvável sequência de bons resultados para se manter na Série A. Acreditando nisso, o time do técnico Eduardo Barroca partiu para cima no início do jogo. Aos quatro minutos teve uma boa chance com o atacante Matheus Nascimento após cruzamento do lateral Victor Luís. Porém, o goleiro Luan Polli, fez boa defesa. Aos 11 foi a vez de o armador Cesinha receber do Matheus Nascimento e mandar para fora outra boa possibilidade.

Após os pernambucanos pularem na frente, o Botafogo sentiu. Inclusive, aos 35, quase saiu o segundo gol dos pernambucanos, quando Ewerthon bateu forte de fora da área e a bola passou perto do gol.

O segundo tempo foi todo do Alvinegro carioca. O time de General Severiano teve chances aos quatro minutos, com o meia Romildo, aos 14, com um chutaço do atacante Matheus Nascimento, aos 21, com o volante José Welison, e aos 30, como atacante Rafael Navarro. Depois disso, o Botafogo seguiu com mais posse de bola, mas não teve forças para reverter o placar e evitar a queda à Série B.

Na próxima rodada, o Botafogo, já rebaixado, apenas cumpre tabela contra o Grêmio no estádio Nilton Santos na segunda-feira (8). Já o Sport enfrenta o líder Internacional no Beira-Rio na quarta-feira (10).
